Dreams and Accomplishments

Image
Hello, Science Audio Articles is growing up fulfilling small goals during these first months. Our long term dream is to achieve a big amount of interactions with researchers or people with curiosity for Science, but we are working and enjoying every surprise after every corner. Today, we are going to share some future goals we chase and others that we have already accomplished.  We started the project with a clear idea in mind: create a recognizable product. We consider that nobody is developing something like Science Audio Articles so far, but it would be possible that other people would start similar projects. We will support all of them keeping us open to helping or answering any question they have, but we walk our own way, for example, we try to share the paper’s audios respecting the journal point of view about the importance of the content, for instance if they tag the laboratories only like a subtitle asterisk we will keep them away from the podcast.  About our accompli...

The Materials & Methods Section Crossroads

Image
Hello, the project of Science Audio Articles is drawing its shape. At this point, we think the product is recognisable, which happens after only a few months and we are proud of it. The idea of creating this was flying around, but when you start laying down the thoughts, everything becomes more complicated. We are very committed to the philosophy of continuous growth, so it is an exciting process. In the near future, there will be a lot of things to polish and decisions to take, but in this post we want to talk about one: the Materials & Methods section crossroads.  We will start with a bit of context, as you know, there exist different kinds of scientific literature, Systematic Reviews, Perspectives Articles, Brief Reports, Clinical Cases, etc, and every one has its particular structure, extension rules and goals. So far, we have been focused on Original Researchers paper -despite we have already published some Review’s audio-, which usually are divided in sections namely Summ...

Whom is Science Audio Articles for?

Image
Hello! It’s been an exciting month with a generous growth of Science Audio Articles since we started sharing audios in spanish; this was only one possible objective at the beginning of our project, but the truth is this way is working and has plenty of possibilities. We have defined our product a little bit more by listening to our audience. Before our project took off, it was important to think about some characteristics, from the language used for the articles to the style of the podcasts, knowing that all the predictions could change during the development of it. Another aspect is to think of the target of people that would be interested in your product and today we are going to share ours, but at the end you will realize that there are always surprises and the predictions never score right in the middle.  Due to the highly specialized topics we bring to the platform, we thought that our main audience would be researchers of that particular area. For example, if we are talking a...

Science Audio Articles in Spanish

Image
Hello there! After one month and eight episodes in Science Audio Articles we feel the continuous improvement is going forward. Week by week some update comes to the project, a new approach in the recording/edition process, a different way to edit the miniature picture of the episode or an exciting idea to implement in the future. This week we shared the first audio in spanish .  The effort of the Science Audio Articles team is to create and share the best possible product to help as many scientific community people, but also to bring closer highly specialized research topics to the outsiders, to let them know some of the internal details the Science hides. In the idea of reaching more people, we thought to share articles in Spanish, the natal language of the team, not to close the door to the english community, but to expand our work through the spanish-speakers, learning how to apply all the knowledge in the future.  Despite the audios and the language we show out in the net ...

How can you listen to Science Audio Articles?

Image
Hello, the first steps of the Science Audio Articles project are raising up little by little and consistently according to our philosophy of continuous improvement. For the moment, our audience is humble in number, we are doing every item carefully and with patience waiting for some of your feedback. We are ambitious also, when we polish our product it will be released to be useful to many more people. In this post, we wanted to define some pieces of advice about how to listen to us. We do believe if you have come to us, you are an expert podcasts-listener because we are still tiny in this world -I wish if you read this post some years from now we would be more famous- and you perfectly know how to do it, but our product is quite different to others and probably it could be listened in diverse ways, being entertaining or extracting all the juice. Most people usually turn on their podcasts while doing other tasks, normally, mechanical ones, like cleaning the house, running, commuting, c...

Hello, World!

Hello! Here we present Science Audio Articles, a platform that pretends to fill one gap in scientific communication. Researchers from every academic level have the necessity of checking a huge amount of articles, no matter which their topic is, people fighting to develop a career in science, from college and PhD students to head researchers in laboratories around the world, they all have to read an unaffordable number of literature with always a short available time to do it.  Podcasts help many people to save time listening to it while running, cooking  or commuting to their work. It has become an interesting way of being entertaining with almost every possible topic, sport, cooking, humor, but also it is a good method to be updated on news and discoveries. There already exist a big number of scientific podcasts, but they usually focus on the general public, which normally is not enough for the specialized one. So, why not optimize it for for science? Our goal i...
