47. Stereochemical Control Yields Mucin Mimetic Polymers

Image
Mucus . Yes, this is basically the material studied in this article. They synthesize, modify, analyze, functionalize and play with a mucin mimetic polymer to research about the protection it provides against toxins . Take a listen to the episode, they deserve at least to take a listen to their work.  Anchor / Google Podcasts / iVoox / Spotify & much more SPANISH AUDIO Published in ACS Central Science on 30 th march 2021 Austin G. 46. Together Is Better: The Rumen Microbial Community as Biological Toolbox for Degradation of Synthetic Polyesters

Image
Cows eating plastic . We know that sounds like a crazy story or perhaps a problem in the cattle raising industry, but it happens to be one possible future for plastic management . At least, this article represents the first step in that direction, determining how groups of bacteria and other microorganisms are able to degrade different sorts of plastic . We are really surprised that we haven't seen it in the global media yet, but here we are to fix it. 45. Persistence of plastic debris and its colonization by bacterial communities after two decades on the abyssal seafloor

Image
The presence of plastics in the oceans is currently a hot topic in the plastic research matter. A lot of suggestive analysis, revolutionary studies and new approaches to the problem have taken off in the last years and the article we share today follows that way. There are plastics also in the seafloor where bacteria communities grow; that’s the focus of the paper which hopefully will please you.            SuperPlants! This is what the researchers of this article have created. They have developed a way to increase the photosynthetic efficiency of a plant by adding a polymer resulting in a better yield. Take a listen. 29. Toward Biorecycling: Isolation of a Soil Bacterium That Grows on a Polyurethane Oligomer and Monomer

Image
When we decided to focus on the Polymers research field, a sorrowful feeling soaked us: we were saying goodbye to other scientific topics. Anyway, we knew that Polymers are linked to many other bricks in Science so we would be able to talk about many of them. Here we share a paper about Recycling analysing the behavior of polyurethane-degrading enzymes , diving in the detail of the genes . We are also fulfilling a dream touching topics aside like Biology . We hope you enjoy it. 23. Characterization and engineering of a two-enzyme system for plastics depolymerization

Image
In this new article, the authors bring up a new approach to the solution of the plastic pollution: an enzyme capable of eating PET . We think this kind of study will keep being a topic with a huge importance for society, so we wanted to bring it to Polymers Audio Articles.  About the structure we have followed, we decided to split the audio in two chapters, as many other times in the past, but twisting things a little; at the first moment, we though divide it in three parts, but two of them would have been very short, so we put together the first and the third part, Introduction & Discussion , and separately, the second one, Results . Although this is unusual, it makes both podcasts more equilibrate. We hope you find this article useful and interesting.
