27. The effect of temperature on persistence of SARS-CoV-2 on common surfaces

Image
Here we share a study on survival of SARS-CoV-2 in different surfaces with variables as temperature, time and relative humidity. Disclaimer, we decided to take out the Statistical Analysis section from Methods because it was completely nonsense to define a formula in a podcast, but you can take a look in the article. We hope you consider this new episode interesting and brings some light over this cloudy topic the global pandemic is. 26. 3D Hybrid Scaffolds Based on PEDOT:PSS/MWCNT Composites

Image
In this text the authors reach their experiments with 3D scaffolds of PEDOT:PSS by adding MWCNT which increase all the previous characteristics such as: pore size distributions, swelling capacity, electrical properties, functionalization capability and cytocompatibility. Take a listen to the podcasts, because it runs through all the basic analysis and properties this kind of biomaterials should have. 25. Nanostructured polymer films with metal-like thermal conductivity

Image
When this article came into our in-box we were surprised to find “polymer” and “thermal conductivity” together, but this is a characteristic that is coming in the already huge list of skills of the polymers. Nevertheless, this ability is raising its importance in the research field and here the authors share a way to control, study and understand the thermal-conducting behaviour of polyethylene modulating crystalline and amorphous ratios   and the morphology of the amorphous region which will be useful in further studies. 24. Strong adhesion of wet conducting polymers on diverse substrates

Image
Sometimes, the greatest Scientific discoveries come in the simplest way or try to fix the apparently smalest problems. In this study, the authors solve the adhesion between a conductive polymer and a substrate through an imaginative approach using an adhesive layer, two interpenetrating polymer nets and the swelling behaviour. We found it very engaging and we hope you do too.  Anchor / Google Podcasts / iVoox / Spotify & much more SPANISH AUDIO Anchor / Google Podcasts / iVoox / Spotify & much more SPANISH AUDIO Materials & Methods Published in Science Advances on 20 th March 2020 Akihisa Inoue, Hyunwoo Yuk, Baoyang Lu and Xuanhe Zhao DOI: 10.1126/sciadv.aay5394

23. Characterization and engineering of a two-enzyme system for plastics depolymerization

Image
In this new article, the authors bring up a new approach to the solution of the plastic pollution: an enzyme capable of eating PET . We think this kind of study will keep being a topic with a huge importance for society, so we wanted to bring it to Polymers Audio Articles.  About the structure we have followed, we decided to split the audio in two chapters, as many other times in the past, but twisting things a little; at the first moment, we though divide it in three parts, but two of them would have been very short, so we put together the first and the third part, Introduction & Discussion , and separately, the second one, Results . Although this is unusual, it makes both podcasts more equilibrate. We hope you find this article useful and interesting. 22. Cellulose-Conducting Polymer Aerogels for Efficient Solar Steam Generation

Image
A revolutionary invention is presented in this article which provides a way to reduce the lack of water . The authors present an aerogel made of cellulose and PEDOT:PSS capable of capturing water and evaporating it faster than previous methods in order to make it pure and ready for human consumption by using solar light . Polymers Audio Articles

Image
As you have probably noticed, there were some changes in the last few days, we bring you the whys, but you must know that everything began a couple of weeks ago with the famous Bruce Lee’s quote that you can see below. It made us flow as water and we have decided to specialize our content in the field of Polymers.  One of the main ideas defines the project of audio articles is the continuous growing and improvement, bringing new kinds of scientific literature, polishing details of the edition and incorporating updates to the project as long as they come, so that's why we think this change fits with our DNA despite is a little bit bigger than others. At the point we are, being focused on one topic can make us stronger and it makes sense with the ambition of becoming a reference helping people with their bibliography work, entire Science is immeasurable for us being just a small group working on. Why did we choose Polymers? As you can see, most of our reviewed papers so far were abo...

21. Daily Satellite Observations of Methane from Oil and Gas Production Regions in the United States

Image
Every industrial or waste management action takes place in the fight against Global Warming. This study has analysed in detail the emissions of methane associated with the Oil & Gas industry in the Texas-New Mexico region, with a new method that combines land measurements and images from the satellite TROPOMI . This work provides us with new information about this particular activity and we hope it results interesting for you all. 20. Enhancement in the Physico-Mechanical Functions of Seaweed Biopolymer Film via Embedding Fillers for Plasticulture Application

Image
A Comparison with Conventional Biodegradable Mulch Film  Developing a new series of biodegradable materials coming from renewable sources has become a key field in the fight against global pollution. Biofilms obtained from seaweed lead the group of plastic-like materials to be used in packaging; this article presents a new proposal of material and an accurate explanation of typical characterization process of the plastic and the comparison with a current available biopolymer .  Anchor / Google Podcasts / iVoox / Spotify & much more SPANISH AUDIO Published in Polymers on 26 th January 2019 Hasan M., E.W.N. 19. Development of vaccines for SARS-CoV-2

Image
Despite the attention COVID-19 and SARS-CoV-2 have received, there are still a lot of questions to answer between the scientific community, but even more in the general population. There are several points to clarify about the behaviour of the virus , the evolution of the pandemic and the possible solutions and, in order to bring light to this last aspect, it has been developed some vaccines following different approaches: in this article, the researchers analyze the types of vaccines and some pros and cons of each one. We hope it helps you to understand a little bit better this particular moment of the global situation.
